'Avengers' Twitter Chat: Our Burning Questions

Avengers

Earth's Mightiest Heroes are assembling in just a few short hours! "Avengers" director Joss Whedon and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston and Clark Gregg are all gathering for a Twitter chat at 2PM EST today (January 31), and you can tweet them your questions by directing them to the handle @Avengers.

I'm sure you've got more than your fair share of questions already lined up, but in case you need some additional ideas, here are a few suggestions from the Splash Page crew.

What's going on with Nick Fury's bad eye?

The most recent set of images released from the movie showed the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. with a very sick-looking eye. Granted, missing an eye is an already serious ailment, the veins and/or scars around Nick's eye seemed particularly bulged in the picture, something along the lines of Tony Stark's palladium poisoning from "Iron Man 2." Is the big guy not feeling well?

Once Agent Coulson does show off his skills, how awesome will it be?

Fully acknowledging that this is a leading question and more rhetorical than anything, it's still something we'd like to know. Gregg hasn't exactly kept Coulson's breakout a secret, but we still don't have a good idea of what he'll do or how cool it will be. The shorts included on the DVDs, especially "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to Thor's Hammer," gave us a preview, and plus we all know Whedon has an enormous man crush on Gregg.

How much will we see during the Super Bowl?

With a little over three months until the film's release, the Avengers have played it pretty close to the vest, having only shown off scenes from two of the key scenes. The 30-second Super Bowl spot will be our first at footage since the first trailer and our next biggest opportunity to see a new clip. The chat will include a short preview of that preview, so hopefully, we'll get an idea of what we're in store for come Super Bowl Sunday.

How big of a role will Loki play?

There are two things that we know for sure that make us question Loki's overall role in "The Avengers." First, we know that there will be another, bigger villain behind the god of mischief. Secondly, we know that Loki will appear in "Thor 2," so unless it's a prequel, death is out of the question. Is it possible that Loki's presence is just a distraction from the main baddie and that he'll only appear in the first half of the film? Wild speculation, yes, but he's definitely up to something.

Is it Thanos? It's Thanos, isn't it?

It's not the Skrulls. It's not Red Skull. It has to be Thanos, right? He has to be the cosmic entity that helps Loki on his path to rule Earth. It's simple process of elimination, right? Are we really expected to have to wait until May to know who the villain is? Will all of this fit into one tweet?
