Could Tony Stark and Bruce Banner be best buddies offscreen as well as on? That's certainly what the latest behind-the-scenes picture from "The Avengers" leads us to believe.
The image shows Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo hanging out in the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier set along with director Joss Whedon, in all likelihood talking about Stark and Banner's newfound friendship in the film. While the two might not quite be at best friend status yet, we have heard that the two become close in "The Avengers." That relationship can be seen in the first theatrical trailer, when Stark says to Banner, "Dr. Banner, your work is unparalleled, and I'm a huge fan of how you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster." If that's not love, we don't know what is.
We also can't help but notice that Whedon is looking a bit Hulkish in this photo. Purple shirt, brown(ish) pants; is he trying to tell us something? Probably not, but we need something to keep us occupied over the next few weeks until "The Avengers" comes out, so it might as well be conspiracies and speculation.
If you're feeling "The Avengers" bug as well, don't forget that tickets to select midnight showings are now available. Plus there are those Marvel movie marathons that AMC Theaters are holding on May 3. And if neither of those will keep you satisfied, you can always be guaranteed a weekly dose of "Avengers" goodness in MTV's Talk Nerdy.
