Captain America's Shield, Thor's Hammer And Other Marvel Props Up For Auction

Who needs to buy the Marvel films when you can assemble your own collection of Avengers props?

Well, someone with an awful lot of money doesn't have to. With "The Avengers" less than two months away from hitting theaters and the next Marvel film still another year off, Marvel has decided to auction off some of the key props from their various movies at C2E2 in Chicago next month.

The Hollywood Reporter has some details about the items that are going to be up for auction. Let's just say that you're going to need quite a few pretty pennies to pick up one of these badass props.

But at least Marvel will make it worth your while. The company is auctioning off such props as Captain America's costume and shield, the Iron Man Mark II "Autopsy" Suit that was later turned into Rhodes's first War Machine Armor, and Thor's hammer. The hammer is the cheapest item on the auction block, expected to sell for $ 4,000 to $ 6,000, while Captain America's outfit should fetch $ 20,000 to $ 30,000 and the Mark II will likely cost its owner upwards of $ 60,000.

Some other items up for grabs are a Red Skull prosthetic mask, a prop Cosmic Cube and a working Hydra tank built on a tractor frame. Those will likely come at a cheaper price tag than the Big Three props up for auction.

The event will take place on April 14 at C2E2. Los Angeles-based auction house Profiles in History will manage the sales. For even more info, head on over to Bleeding Cool.
