It's been a four-year road to "The Avengers," so you'll be forgiven for not remembering a few details: the color of Pepper Potts' hair, the number of eye patches Nick Fury has, the actor playing Bruce Banner, etc. There's a lot to catch up on.
In order to capitalize on the film's May 4 premiere, AMC Theaters will be holding an all-day Marvel marathon on May 3 with the five movies that have gotten us this far: "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor," and "Captain America," capped off by a midnight showing of "The Avengers." It'll cost you just $ 40, a whale of a deal for moviegoers with nothing better to do.
Unfortunately, the fun will be limited to theaters in a few select cities: Boston Common 19 in Boston, MA; Burbank 16 in Burbank, CA; Downtown Disney 12 in Anaheim, CA; Aventura 24 in Aventura, FL; Empire 25 in New York, NY; Garden State 16 in Paramus, NJ; Downtown Disney 24 in Lake Buena Vista, FL; Metreon 16 in San Francisco, CA; Alderwood 16 in Lynnwood, WA; and Tysons Corner 16 in McLean, VA. Lucky citizens will be able to buy tickets on March 16 at go.amctheaters.com/marvel, though the link isn't live.
If you live somewhere else, that doesn't meant you can't get in on the fun: Just get your friends to pool Netflix queues towards a noble cause, get some White Castle Crave Crates, and have at it. You can even add the "Spider-Man" and "X-Men" films for good measure, if you're really absolutely not pressed for time whatsoever. You could do a lot of other things, but this will be the last year where all of those movies can technically be called "research" for something else. After "The Avengers" comes out on May 4, they'll go back to being a "timesink."
