Steven Spielberg Opens Up In Exclusive 'Tintin' Clip

With "The Adventures of Tintin" due to hit shelves on March 13, MTV News got our hands on an exclusive clip from one of the featurettes that will be included with the Blu-Ray and DVD. In it, Steven Spielberg talks about his experience reading the "Tintin" books for the first time and his response to writer and artist Herge's storytelling style.

"'Prisoners of the Sun' was the first book I got ahold of -- all written in French, but I understood the story without really understanding enough French to read every frame," Spielberg explained. "Every single panel told a story in cinematic terms, including color pallet, composition, figures in action."

He added, "Very expressive action is the way Herge would pose his characters, almost like he was trying to squeeze out 24 frames in a single frame, and succeeding. That was I think the genius of Herge: it was a movie. And I started reading all the books and became instantly a fan."

Fortunately for fans, Spielberg does plan on incorporating "Prisoner of the Sun" into future "Tintin" sequels. Though the next "Tintin" movie might still be a ways off, at least everyone who picks up the DVD/Blu-Ray will have plenty of special features to help them bide the time in between films.
