'Amazing Spider-Man' Viral Campaign Reveals Web-Shooter Design

If you've been keeping up with "The Amazing Spider-Man's" viral campaign, then these latest developments are pretty freaking awesome.

Some dedicated fans have cracked the latest clues teased by Peter Parker's photoblog, parkerspov.com, and have revealed our favorite man-spider's sketches for his mechanical webshooters (you can check out all of them over at SuperHeroHype).

Parker's notes break down the details of the shooters into three categories. There's the "ventral wrist interface," which apparently irritated Parker's skin in early trial uses. Then there's the "intended functionality," which he writes is to act like a second skin. An interesting bit of information from Parker's note here is that the spray unit is meant to only work when his arm's tendons contract in the way displayed in the above picture. And lastly there's the "time for action," which explains that the web shooter can be concealed beneath the lip of a wristwatch with a few modifications.

The inclusion of web shooters is one of "The Amazing Spider-Man's" biggest departures from Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" movies. In original "Spider-Man" canon, Peter Parker creates a chemical to simulate a spider's web, and devices that will allow him to use it. Since, some comics storylines have gone back and forth between organic, spider bite-caused web-slinging powers and the Parker-created explanation, with Raimi's version of the superhero relying purely on organic powers. That obviously has changed this time around, and the amount of detail going into Parker's creation makes us think it was the right decision by Sony and director Marc Webb.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans. The movie focuses on Peter Parker's journey to discover the secret of what happened to his parents. That brings him face-to-face with Dr. Curt Conners, who ends up becoming the film's villain, The Lizard. It's due in theaters on July 3.
