The cast and crew of "Marvel's The Avengers" were riding high the day after the world premiere of their film. Fans, celebrities and journalists couldn't help but tweet out their ecstatic reactions to the long-await film, and it had seemed that Joss Whedon and friends may have finally put together the film we were all hoping for.

But at a press conference the next evening, Robert Downey, Jr., stated that they weren't finished just yet. The actor said that the cast was filming an additional scene that very night. The audience laughed at what seemed to be a joke from the notoriously wry Downey, but he assured the crowd saying, "I'm not kidding." He then promptly ended the press conference, leaving the world abuzz.

This was the first anyone had heard of a last minute scene, so at a later press conference, one writer put the question to director Joss Whedon, who denied the planned shoot. It seemed that lid had been blown off Downey's joke, but The Playlist caught up with Mark Ruffalo later, who confirmed the shoot.

"We're shooting a scene tonight. I'm not sure exactly where it's gonna go. All I know is that someone came in with the costume and said, 'Here's some wardrobe. We don't know where you're going to be or what you're doing.' " Ruffalo said. We asked if it will be in the "The Avengers" when it hits theaters Ruffalo added, "Yeah. So I'm like, 'All right, when are we doing that?' Today after we're done."

But what could it be? A complete film screened for a packed audience just the day before. The gut reaction for a secret Marvel shoot would point in the direction of a post-credit sequence, but one already appeared during the premiere screening.

With "Iron Man 3" the next film on Marvel's docket, many writers pointed to a potential connection to that film which involved the entire cast of "The Avengers." With so many A-listers on the cast, it would be near impossible to coordinate their schedules after the press schedule to film a scene together. This last minute shoot may have been Marvel's way around that.
