Chris Hemsworth: Hero Of The Week

Thor Chris Hemsworth

This Friday, Chris Hemsworth has a movie coming out. That movie would be the insanely hyped horror film, "The Cabin in the Woods." Three weeks from now, he has another movie coming out. That movie would be the insanely hyped superhero film, "The Avengers."

Oh, you've heard of them? So it should be really easy to explain to you why Hemsworth is our Hero of the Week.

It started with "Thor," arguably the film in Marvel's first cycle of movies that had the steepest hill to climb when it came to winning over fans. Thor was by far the most mythical and fantasy-based character of the heroes, and he was played by the least well-known actor of the bunch. Hemsworth's most notable role until that point had been his brief appearance in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" as Kirk's father, George. Who was this guy? Could he eventually stand next to Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans in "The Avengers"?

The answer was "Yes, and shut up."

Hemsworth has a quality that immediately puts him on the side of the audience. Call it charm. Call it the ability to beat up pretty much anybody. Whatever it is, the Aussie has it in spades and helped make "Thor" another successful entry to the Marvel universe.

With "Cabin," he's doing the same thing. The role of the jock would usually put him at a disadvantage, but his character, Curt, is smart in addition to all the good qualities that come with the territory. He's one part of what makes that movie such a fun experience.

"The Avengers" will be the final step in ranking among some of the industry's biggest talents. How could he not, as a part of that line-up?

Not that we need to tell you, but that's why Chris Hemsworth is our Hero of the Week and will be for weeks to come.
