The CW's new midseason effort, the imported sexy soap "," set a new benchmark Tuesday night: According to network research analysts, "The L.A. Complex" is the lowest-rated in-season broadcast drama debut on record (tracking back to the start of the current ratings measurement system).

Despite relatively upbeat reviews, "Complex" opened to only 646,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating in the adult demo. By comparison, "Ringer" averaged 40 percent higher in the 9 p.m. slot. Yes, "L.A. Complex" numbers actually made "Ringer" look good. "Complex" also shed half its "90210" (1.2 million, 0.6) lead in.

Other ratings highlights last night were more sunny:

-- The second week of ABC's "Private Practice" (8.4 million, 2.2) on its new night jumped 29 percent and won 10 p.m. -- fans must have realized it moved from Thursdays?

-- NBC's "The Voice" results show (8.7 million, 3.2) was the night's highest-rated show, down a tick from last week.

-- Fox's "Glee" (6.9 million, 2.7), featuring the music of Whitney Houston, climbed 13 percent this week and won 8 p.m. "New Girl" (5.2 million, 2.6), however, was down a bit.
