"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" was awesome for several reasons. The Burj Khalifa sequence, the opening prison breakout, the all-too-brief Josh Holloway scenes. But for me, the biggest highlight is a no-brainer: Paula Patton. The actress, previously best known for "Precious" and "Deja Vu," proved her weight as an action star in the making in the fourth "Mission: Impossible," and I've been waiting not-so-patiently to hear about her next big blockbuster.
Well, wait no more: Patton's found her project, and she's once again experiencing some deja vu. This time, she'll reunite with her former co-star Denzel Washington (as well as Boston bad boy Mark Wahlberg) for "2 Guns," the Boom Studios comic book adaptation about two operatives unwittingly pitted against each other and ultimately forced to work alongside one another to clear their respective names.
"Contraband" director Baltasar Kormakur is behind the lens on the "2 Guns" adaptation, with Patton circling an unknown role in the action flick. Honestly, her name could be Bertha Saint Gertrude: Nanny For Hire for all I care. Just as long as Patton gets to kick some serious ass alongside Wahlberg and Washington, I'll be a happy man.
Thanks to Deadline for the report.
