"Avengers" fans, it's finally time. At long last, Earth's Mightiest Heroes have joined forces for your extended viewing pleasure... and boy, do these guys look good.
The first trailer for "Marvel's The Avengers" made its way online today at Apple after weeks, months, and even years of endless anticipation. But did the trailer live up to all of our understandably high expectations? Well, let's think about that for a second…
Kicking things off with a menacing monologue from Loki? Put that in the win column. Iron Man flying high above the New York City streets, spouting out arrogant one-liners to anyone who will listen, teammates included? Thumb's up. Cap firing machine guns off at some unseen opponents, Thor catching the mighty Mjolnir in his hand, and Bruce Banner hulking out into the big green meanie? All great things.
But the music choice? Maybe a little... curious.
Written and directed by Joss Whedon, "The Avengers" stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, Stellan Skarsgård as Professor Selvig, and Tom Hiddleston as the trickster god Loki.
Appropriately enough, it's one of the mightiest groups of actors ever assembled for such a can't-miss blockbuster event. May 4, 2012 can't come soon enough.
