Describing 2012 as a huge year for comic book movies feels like an equally huge understatement. This is the year that Christopher Nolan closes out his Batman trilogy, the year that Marvel Studios finally assembles Iron Man, Captain America and Thor in one giant superhero epic, and the year that Spider-Man swings into theaters for the very first time without old reliables Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi in tow. Between those films and others, such as the return of the "Ghost Rider" and "Men in Black" franchises, 2012 isn't just a huge year -- it's a monumental one.
But those comic book movies aren't the only noteworthy blockbusters hitting the big screen this year -- the "Twilight" saga is coming to an end, "Hunger Games" is entering the scene, and other geek favorites like "Prometheus" and "The Hobbit" are also making their debut in the coming months. 2012 is such an enormous year for movies that we're asking you to decide: which of this year's movies is the most anticipated one of all?
Let your voice be heard in MTV's Movie Smackdown 2012, a tournament where you can champion the movie you're most looking forward to in the coming year. Whether it's "The Dark Knight Rises," "The Amazing Spider-Man," "The Avengers" or something else entirely, this is your chance to let us know which movies you're excited about in 2012.
