Sharpen your claws and test out that healing factor (don't actually do either of those things), because Wolverine is hacking and slashing his way back into your life next July.
Finally, after months and months of twists and turns, "The Wolverine" has clawed out a release date. The Hugh Jackman starring follow-up to the actor's solo debut as the fast-healing mutant in "X-Men Origins" is coming your way on July 26, 2013.
Some time has passed since we heard anything on "The Wolverine" front. Director James Mangold, who took the job over from Darren Aronofsky after his sudden departure in 2011, spoke with MTV News in October of last year about the movie, describing it as a more "complex" take on Logan than anyone's seen previously on film.
"Hugh and I have an idea about when in Wolvie's life when we're finding him," he said. "I think it's in a place that will be a little more intense than we've ever seen him. In that sense, we'll be examining his look and everything else through that prism. That would affect everything from his level of musculature to his look."
The ideas behind the film are very solid on paper. And now, we can finally pencil in a date for when we'll be headed to Japan with our favorite Canadian mutant.
Between "Dark Knight Rises," "Avengers" and "Amazing Spider-Man," 2012 was looking like a tough year to beat when it comes to superhero films. Now, "The Wolverine" adds some muscle to the 2013 lineup: in addition to the new "X-Men" film, next year boasts "Man of Steel," "R.I.P.D.," "Iron Man 3" and "Thor 2" among its many comic book movie offerings. Looks like we're sticking with our all popcorn-and-nachos diet for the foreseeable future!
