Little is known about Joseph Kosinski's upcoming sci-fi project "Oblivion." It is known that Tom Cruise plays Jak, a man tasked with the mundane job of repairing ships on a highly irradiated Earth. And we do know that Andrea Riseborough plays a mysterious woman Jak finds in a crash-landed pod on Earth who sets of a chain off unstoppable events in both of their lives. But what about the rest of the cast, like Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau?
We don't have any additional details on the first two, but Empire recently caught up with the "Game of Thrones" star and asked him to flesh out his "Oblivion" character, a veteran weapons expert named Sykes. Based on Coster-Waldau's MO, it should come as little surprise that he doesn't play the most liked character in "Oblivion."
"It's a Tom Cruise movie for sure; I don't think there's a scene without him. I play a soldier who's not a big fan of Tom's character," Coster-Waldau said. "He's seen a lot of horrible things and there's a lot of boiled-up anger in him."
So does that make him the villain, or just someone who doesn't get along with Cruise? The latter, if the "Game of Thrones" star is to be believed.
"I think Tom's character would probably described my character as a bad guy, but I don't think the audience would," Coster-Waldau hedged.
"Oblivion" is set to hit theaters on April 19, 2013.
