Ever since "X-Men: First Class" made a splash in last summer's blockbuster scene, there's been plenty of talk about what direction the sequel will take the franchise in. It seems a guarantee that leading lady Jennifer Lawrence will make a return in the as-yet-untitled follow-up, but it turns out that she knows little more about the project than we do.
"I don't know, I mean...if they write me in, then I'm in," Lawrence told HitFix. "But I don't even know if there'll be...I've only heard what everybody else has heard, just whispers. I haven't heard the official word yet."
She explained that it didn't hit her until after "X-Men: First Class" wrapped that she had played one of the most iconic characters in superhero cannon.
"It's a cool thing," she said. "It wasn't until later, [that I thought]... 'I'm Mystique.' That's a cool...she's kind of like a historic superhero, and that's really important to a lot of people, and these comics have been around for so long. It was a cool thing to be a part of."
That's similar to what Rose Byrne told us recently about the chances of her returning to the "X-Men" franchise.
"I really enjoyed my time on X-Men and Matthew Vaughn is super great and talented. I think these things take a while to marinate and come together. But yeah, I'd love to," she said.
And if Simon Kinberg is to be believed, we could see a lot of Magneto -- and, by extension, Mystique -- in the upcoming sequel. Sounds like Lawrence will be pretty busy in the sequel department between this and "Catching Fire."
