'Walking Dead' Finds Michonne In Danai Gurira

Two zombies, one sword. A deadly combination in any circumstance, but in the capable hands of Michonne — the fan-favorite character from "The Walking Dead" comic books — the combination is much, much deadlier.

Michonne made her first onscreen "Walking Dead" appearance in the season two finale that aired tonight (March 18), adding a new character into the mix that fans of the comics are going to go absolutely nuts for. While a stand-in filled the role of Michonne on this week's episode, the character has already been cast for season two.

Actress Danai Gurira has been cast in the coveted role of Michonne in season three of "Walking Dead," creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman revealed on this week's episode of "Talking Dead." Starring in multiple episodes of HBO's "Treme" as Jill, Gurira's other credits include appearances on "Law & Order," "Life on Mars" and "Lie to Me." Presumably, she'll be a series regular on the new season of "Walking Dead," though that information remains unconfirmed.

What's much more clear is the fact that Michonne will have plenty of screen time with Andrea, the former law clerk turned eagle-eyed sharpshooter, currently separated from her fellow group of survivors. Andrea's actress Laurie Holden also appeared on "Talking Dead" and spoke about how excited she is to star opposite Gurira as Michonne.

"I'm excited to have a new BFF," said Holden. When Kirkman suggested that perhaps Andrea and Michonne won't be getting along, Holden answered, "She saved my life! How could she not be!"

"But she could've saved your life because she wanted to eat you," Kirkman retorted.

"Well… there's that," conceded Holden.
