It's safe to say that Steve Rogers is better known for spreading patriotism and slinging his shield than he is for his moves on the dance floor. But there's one person who still holds out hope for a waltz with Captain America: his long lost love, Peggy Carter, left hanging onto a promise after Steve's apparent demise in World War II.
I say "still holds out hope," because apparently, Peggy is still alive... well, might still be alive. Speaking with The New York Times, "Avengers" director Joss Whedon described one cut scene that would have involved Steve and Peggy reuniting during the present day. His full quote is after the jump.
"One of the best scenes that I wrote was the beautiful and poignant scene between Steve and Peggy [Carter] that takes place in the present," he revealed. "And I was the one who was like, Guys, we need to lose this. It was killing the rhythm of the thing. And we did have a lot of Cap, because he really was the 'in' for me. I really do feel a sense of loss about what's happening in our culture, loss of the idea of community, loss of health care and welfare and all sorts of things. I was spending a lot of time having him say it, and then I cut that."
So Peggy's still possibly out there, then? If the scene didn't make it into "Avengers," here's hoping it winds up in "Captain America 2." Thanks to io9 for tipping us off to the news.
