And then there were two. Deadline is reporting that the competition for the job directing the next "Captain America" movie is down to two, Joe & Anthony Russo of "Community" and George Nolfi, who directed "The Adjustment Bureau."
According to the report, F. Gary Gray recently dropped out in order to helm the NWA biopic, "Straight Outta Compton."
MTV News talked with Donald Glover from "Community" about the prospect of the Russos directing "Cap 2," and he said that they would be "perfect."
"I was talking to them, actually. I didn't know it was that project. They were like, 'Yeah, we're thinking about directing this thing.' Honestly, I think they'd be a perfect fit," Glover said. "I mean you watch 'Community,' everything is based on a movie, different types of genres and stuff. Them directing it kind of makes sense. I think they'd do a good job."
Though the Russos and Nolfi were the only names left from a previously reported shortline, Deadline mentioned that Marvel is also speaking with other directors about the job.
Disney just recently announced that "Captain America 2" would hit theaters in April of 2014. The story is set to pick up right where Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" leaves off. The announcement made clear that "Captain America 2" would continue Steve Rogers' adventures in the modern world. It's unclear, however, whether there will also be action that takes place back in World War II.
