When you've got talents like the Black Widow, who needs superpowers?
At least, that's what we've taken away from the first clip released from "The Avengers," due out May 4. The scene puts Black Widow and Agent Coulson front and center, and does a good job teasing (what we hope will be) the tone for the rest of the movie.
Watch it past the break!
The clip finds Black Widow in the middle of being interrogated when she gets a call from Coulson. He tells her that "the program's been compromised," which forces her to expedite the whole being-a-prisoner process. After putting him "on hold," Black Widow proceeds to kick the living daylights out of the men who were holding her captive.
We're glad that she has kept herself in tip-top shape since we last saw her in "Iron Man 2." It's unclear whether this is the scene where Coulson gathers Black Widow back into the Avengers initiative, or if this occurs later in the movie. With the program being compromised, we're inclined to think the latter. Either way, we're happy that this is the first scene Marvel has released versus something that we've already caught a glimpse of in the many trailers and TV spots that have hit the web.
It's nice to see that some of the Avengers who aren't the main four (namely Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk) are getting the spotlight. Just yesterday Coulson got his own character poster featuring Nick Fury. Clearly the S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives and Black Widow are going to be getting a bit more time in the spotlight than we thought when the first trailer for "The Avengers" came out.
