There have been a whole lot of "Iron Man 3" stories on casting recently, and not that much news on the plot front. At yesterday's Disney panel at CinemaCon, director Shane Black shed a little bit of light on what we can expect from the upcoming Marvel flick.
During a sizzle reel presented at the panel, Black called the movie a "technological thriller" and a "crisis movie" set in the world of "international war, arms and terror." He added that the villains in the flick will "put Tony Stark through the wringer" as they explore the trials of being Tony Stark, according to ComingSoon.net. Black didn't elaborate on the villain situation -- Aldrich Killian and Maya Hansen and the Mandarin, oh my! -- but he did say that the big bad in "Iron Man 3" will "frighten in today's world."
In other "Iron Man 3" news, Scarlett Johansson has come out and debunked the recent casting rumor that she'll be returning for the third "Iron Man" flick.
She told ScreenRant that she won't be joining "Iron Man 3," but would like to see a Black Widow standalone movie one day.
"I think that you build this kind of character in the hope that the fans are like, 'we want more,'" she said. "I personally think there's an awesome Black Widow movie in there. A kind of 'Bourne' type of film that would take the whole comic-book genre in a completely different direction. It'd be awesome."
Johansson continued, "I've spoken to Marvel about it and Kevin Feige, and there's so much story to draw from. I think it'd be totally awesome. But do I want to spend another three months shedding the manatee skin and squeezing back into that suit? Not necessarily, but it's all worth it in the end!"
"Iron Man 3" is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
