The wait is almost over! Marvel's widely anticipated "Avengers" movie is now just two weeks away! Two weeks too many if you ask us.
With all of the glowing reviews that "The Avengers" has already received, it would be foolish not to expect Marvel to churn out a sequel. After all, the studio has a serious case of sequel syndrome as of late, what with "Captain America 2," "Thor 2," and "Iron Man 3" currently in development.
Yet, despite the fantastic thought of another "Avengers" movie, there still remains one important question. Will Joss Whedon be returning to helm the sequel? Speaking with MTV News, the director had this to say on the matter: "Marvel gave me so much trust and the movie that I said, 'Well, if I was going to do this I'd like to do this.' And that's the movie I made. They only ever moved it forwards and collaborated and supported me. And I gotta tell you, that's unusual from a studio."
Sounds like there's a good chance of the two working together again in the near future. Marvel's faith in Joss Whedon has already proven to be well placed. His exceptional story telling talents and ability to juggle multiple larger-than-life characters at once are the perfect match for a film featuring six of Earth's mightiest heroes. The key is to show the humanity in each of these superpowerful beings, something that Whedon does best.
"I spent some time with some of the ancillary characters because I thought we needed more of a human perspective," Whedon revealed, speaking of deleted scenes fans might see in the future. "As it turned out people really just did want to see the Avengers."
