You've seen the "Men in Black 3" trailers. You've checked out the behind-the-scenes pictures. And now it's time for the Spark Notes version of the flick.
Sony has released the first TV spot for the latest installment in the "Men in Black" franchise, and it's nice to see that number three has picked up the series' tone almost flawlessly. The spot doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, but that's okay. All we need is confirmation that "Men in Black 3" is sticking with the series' tried-and-true formula, and that seems to be the case.
In our age of sequels, reboots, and reboots of sequels, it's nice to see that the folks behind this film are looking to stick to what made the first two such a success to begin with. It doesn't look like there's going to be any added darkness or grittiness that wasn't already there in the "Men in Black" franchise. It's just going to be colorful, silly and sometimes gross alien killing, and we're totally okay with that.
"Men in Black 3" follows Agent J (Will Smith) as he travels back to the 1960s to prevent an alien assassin from killing his friend and partner Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones). To do so, he must team up with a younger version of K (Josh Brolin) who we're supposed to believe is only 29. There's also an evil alien named Boris (Jemaine Clement) and Andy Warhol (Bill Hader) as an MIB agent in the mix. Because why not.
"Men in Black 3" hits theaters May 25.
