"The Avengers" is now less than a month away, and Marvel is ramping up the promotion for the movie with two new TV spots.
The first minute-long teaser gives the most honest portrayal of the film that we've seen to date. We've known for a while now that "The Avengers" is going to be told from Captain America's perspective, and this TV spot shows us how that will work on the big screen.
The new tagline, "Every team needs a captain," really underlines what the flick seems like it's going to be about. Each of the four main Avengers has now had his own movie, but in "The Avengers" there can be only one leader. And let's just say that Steve Rogers isn't called Captain America for nothing.
The 30-second spot emphasizes the ensemble component of the film more than the first one did. We see all of the Avengers suiting up and preparing for battle, but again in this one it is Captain America who gets to do the coolest stuff. At long last we get to hear someone order the Hulk to "smash," which is basically what we've been waiting for ever since the first trailer was released. The Hulk looked as excited about the line's delivery as we were.
"The Avengers" hits theaters on May 4.
