Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken," created by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, is already well-known for its geek-friendly sense of humor. With multiple "Star Wars" specials under its belt and a plethora of comic book references, it makes perfect sense that the stop motion animated television series is now taking aim at Batman and his super-friends.
The series is partnering with DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation to make a "Robot Chicken DC Comics Special," Yahoo reports.
Slated to air sometime this fall, the "Robot Chicken DC Comics Special" will be an entire episode devoted to poking fun at the most popular superheroes and supervillains that DC has to offer. Comic book fans will also be happy to know that Geoff Johns (writer of Green Lantern, Aquaman and DC's chief creative officer) is attached to the project, ensuring an authentic DC Comics parody.
This won't be the first time that "Robot Chicken" has taken on the entirety of the DC universe. Superheroes such as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman have already made several appearances on the show, most notably in the sketches "Real World: Metropolis" and "Bring a Sidekick to Work Day" which features every member of the Justice League.
Seth Green, co-creator and executive producer on the show, will be providing the voices for Batman, Robin and Aquaman. The special will also feature a veritable who's who of big name talents; such as Paul Reubens as the Riddler, Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Megan Fox as Lois Lane, and, of course, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern.
"We've been working with Geoff Johns for over 15 years," states Senreich (co-creator). "So playing together on this special only made it more fun to work in the worlds we all love so dearly." With that said, we can't wait to see what kind of DC-specific jokes "Robot Chicken" has up its sleeve. Or rather... up its wing?
