'Batman: Arkham City' Live Action Video Features Catwoman's Moves

Catwoman

Live action recreations of videogames can sometimes come off as a little hokey, but that's not to say YouTube isn't full of some real gems. Hell, the live action Skyrim ad that showed up a couple months ago just may be my favorite commercial of the year. But what if someone tried to bring the intense, flowing combat of "Batman: Arkham City" to the real world? Doing justice to the source material would require some real martial arts mastery, and luckily, Thousand Pounds Action Company pulls it off splendidly.

Having already brought "Street Fighter" combat to life, Thousand Pounds set their focus on a video that translated the moves of Catwoman, a la "Arkham City." This could have turned out rather lame, but the fight choreography is absolutely spot-on.

First, the short's creators managed to actually catch the overall vibe of Catwoman's combat without unnecessarily dressing her up in a vinyl suit. Vinyl suits are great and all, but I think creating a scenario wherein the actress is just some badass woman thumping thugs allows the viewer to better appreciate the insane on-screen moves.

The video producers also managed to work in the game's sound and music, even going so far as to capture the aggravating feeling of a long combo being broken by some jerk throwing a trashcan (even if that trashcan is a hilariously flimsy office number). I think the lesson here is that if you throw that dinky trashcan under your desk at a co-worker, there's a chance she's secretly Catwoman and will whip your face off.
