With only three episodes remaining in "The Walking Dead," there are bound to be a few major character deaths looming in the near future. At the very least, there is very likely one major death just around the corner—and we know this thanks to an accidental spoiler released by none other than AMC themselves.
Click past the jump for details, but one last word of warning: HUGE SPOILERS lie ahead. Do not proceed unless you wish to be spoiled.
Yesterday, AMC's website posted an advertisement for the "Walking Dead" season two limited edition Blu-ray set, accidentally revealing a major spoiler as part of the product description: "This special limited edition Blu-Ray includes all 13 episodes on 4 discs, including bonus features such as: the making of the barn, an extended zombie gut scene, Shane's last episode, full Comic Con coverage with panel…"
No need to keep listing all the features, because the big cat is out of the bag: Shane's last episode. It's been rumored for quite a while now that Jon Bernthal's disgruntled southern lawman would not make it out of season two alive, what with his probable casting in Frank Darabont's "L.A. Noir" pilot. But this makes it all but official: whether or not he dies, Shane's final appearance looks set to take place in the next three episodes.
Feel free to speculate on how Shane's exit in the comments section below or on Twitter, but let me take this opportunity to preemptively pour one out for Bernthal. That guy has absolutely owned the role of Shane, easily the most interesting role on the show in my opinion. "Walking Dead" is going to be a very different beast without Shane involved—though, really, his death could be the stuff of TV legend. Looking forward to seeing it play out.
Hat tip to the good lads at Spinoff Online for this one.
