When Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Widow were all standing in a circle during that "Avengers" Super Bowl ad, did you have to ask yourself, "How the hell did it come to this?"
It's been an incredible journey since 2008 when Samuel L. as Nick Fury decided to show up after the end credits of "Iron Man," back when this whole Avengers Initiative mess began, and now the folks over at Norton have been kind enough to put together a featurette reminding us how we got here.
The video is a fun, nostalgia-filled look back at the simpler time that was the first decade of the 21st century, when there was only one "Iron Man" movie and Edward Norton was Bruce Banner.
If you're more interested in movies with more than one costumed hero, the featurette includes an interview with director Joss Whedon about the ambitions behind the project and his core idea for making "The Avengers" about something.
"These people don't belong together. These people wouldn't get along," Whedon said. "As soon as that really came into focus, I realized, 'Oh, I actually have something to say about these people.' "
Norton's look back at the Marvel Universe films works as a nice appetizer to the madness that's about to descend upon us in May, so if you're not planning to marathon the movies before the midnight release, check out the featurette as a quick refresher course.
