Following Andrew Garfield's appearance yesterday, Emma Stone stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to help promote her upcoming flick, "The Amazing Spider-Man." And though they didn't talk as much about the movie as Ellen and Garfield did, the conversation did turn to spiders.
It turns out that Stone is absolutely terrified of spiders (and needles, though DeGeneres didn't know that before the interview took place). So, as Ellen is wont to do, the daytime talk show host decided to help Stone overcome her fear of arachnids by forcing her to hold one on the show. And she did. Sort of.
DeGeneres took out a cage of spiders in the middle of her interview with Stone and informed the 23-year-old actress that the only way to get over her fear was to hold a spider in her own hand.
"I'm not afraid of that at all," Stone insisted before adding, "I'm going to throw up."
It was soon revealed that the spiders were actually fake, but not before DeGeneres dropped one on Stone's hand and chucked another at her shoulder. "You are the worst!" Stone declared while laughing. "Why would you do that to somebody?"
Our question instead is why would Stone decide to act in a movie about a man who gets bit by a radioactive spider, but that's beside the point. In addition to the whole spider trauma, DeGeneres asked Stone who she liked kissing on the big screen more: Ryan Gosling or her real-life boyfriend Garfield.
"Apples and oranges, you know?" Stone hedged. When asked which she would choose, she insisted, "I love all fruit!"
At least yesterday's conversation with Garfield stayed a little more on the target of "The Amazing Spider-Man." Garfield talked about his difficulties getting in shape for the role, how he got over his insecurities at having to wear a skin-tight Spider-Man outfit and just how uncomfortable that outfit was.
"It's made of something that's designed to make you irritated. I don't know what the exact name is, but that's the description on the [label]," he said.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" hits theaters July 3.
